1. Product Overview
The fast back conveyor is the buffering and return unit of the secondary packaging line. It solves a headache common to every packaging line: when a downstream machine pauses briefly or changes rhythm, finished packs arriving from upstream pile up rapidly on the transfer section, squeeze each other, and at worst get crushed — forcing a stop and manual clean-up. Using an optimised fast-return motion curve, the fast back conveyor cycles between gentle forward feeding and rapid return, delivering finished packs forward in short, controlled steps: when the front is blocked, packs on the deck do not pile into a mountain — they simply wait in place and move on as space frees up.
Founded in 2019 with an engineering team of more than ten years of sanitary conveying experience, Globule designs in line with FSMA sanitary design guidelines. With low breakage rate as its core index, plus space saving, low maintenance cost and flexible on-site installation, the fast back conveyor is the compact, high-value flexible buffer of the secondary packaging line.
2. Working Principle: Why "Fast Back"?
The fast back conveyor uses a reciprocating conveying principle: the deck first advances slowly with the finished packs for one step, then returns quickly to the start position to await the next group. This "slow-forward, fast-back" cycle keeps packs advancing in an intermittent, low-impact manner:
Gentle feeding
● — the forward phase runs at low speed and low acceleration; packs keep their spacing without collision or stacking, and film surfaces suffer zero scraping;
Rapid return
● — the return phase is unloaded and fast, never touching the packs on the deck, so cycle loss is minimal and continuous supply is maintained;
Vibration-reduced curve
● — the fast-return motion curve is specially optimised so reversing vibration is strongly suppressed — protecting package integrity and extending frame and drive life;
Stop-as-you-go
● — with photoelectric detection, the conveyor automatically pauses when downstream is blocked, holding only a small buffer of packs on the deck and preventing the chain reaction of "accumulation into piles".
3. Typical Applications in the Secondary Packaging Line
Pre-bundler buffering
1. — a fast back section before the bundling machine absorbs the rhythm difference between the multihead recheck output and the bundler, keeping infeed continuous without build-up;
Pre-packager queuing
2. — forming a flexible buffer ahead of the terminal packaging machine (big-bag/carton), so carton changeover or brief sealing pauses do not stop upstream production;
Line transfer and transition
3. — replacing long conveyor runs with its compact reciprocating structure to complete transfer and transition in tight spaces, making the whole line more compact.
4. Differentiation Advantages
Compared with ordinary belt conveyors and vibratory conveyors, the fast back conveyor offers four clear advantages in the secondary packaging scenario:
Low breakage rate
● — the number-one index of this machine. Slow-forward/fast-back plus the vibration-reduced curve keep fragile, beautifully printed finished packs completely collision-free during buffering;
Space saving
● — reciprocating conveying does not need a long run to hold buffer volume, significantly shortening line length and freeing valuable floor space;
Lower maintenance cost
● — no belt tracking issues, no idler wear — fewer moving parts and simple construction mean less frequent maintenance and fewer spare parts;
Flexible on-site installation
● — conveying length, width, step and rhythm are all customisable on site; combined with Globule's line survey service, installation is plug-and-play.
5. Technical Specifications (from Official Brochure)
| Item | Specification |

| Noise | ≤70 dB (measured 65 dB) |
| Breakage rate | Low (core design index) |
| Return curve | Optimised to reduce vibration |
| Construction | Space-saving, low maintenance |
| Installation | Flexible, customised on site |
6. Hygiene, Safety and Maintenance
The machine uses food-grade stainless steel with hygienic construction — no belts, no dirt-trapping shelves, directly flush-cleanable, in line with FSMA sanitary design. Moving parts are fully guarded with safety interlocks, and measured noise is only 65dB — far below plant limits — giving operators a quiet, safe workplace. Routine maintenance is limited to periodic checks of the reciprocating mechanism and sensors, so downtime is negligible.
Sizing to your rhythm — because the buffer capacity of a fast back section is determined by step length, cycle time and deck length, Globule sizes each unit from the actual pack flow: the number of packs arriving per minute, the pause duration of the downstream machine and the acceptable buffer quantity on deck. The result is a section that neither starves the bundler nor floods it — a genuine plug-and-play buffer at the exact point of your line where rhythm fluctuation happens.
7. Line Coordination and Service
Globule proposes solutions from a whole-line perspective: the fast back conveyor can be designed and commissioned together with the bucket elevator, vibrate feeder, multihead weigher, conveyors, stainless platform, bundling machine and packaging machine, embedded as a "rhythm buffer" at any critical junction of the line. Since 2019 we have held to "Hygiene First · Safety First", providing selection consulting, site survey, custom manufacturing, installation and commissioning and remote technical support — freeing your secondary packaging line from the "accumulate — stop — clean up" cycle for good.
